Introduction

Restore to perfection

Paint Correction refers to the process of restoring and rejuvenating the vehicles paint through the elimination of surface imperfections that dull the surface by reflecting light off in various directions, therefore detracting from a true reflection.

These imperfections include scratch and swirl marks, oxidation and fading, paint holograms, bird dropping etching and water spot damage. Once paint is corrected, it is a great idea to pair with one of our ceramic coating packages to lock in and protect from future defects.

I can't begin to tell you how impressed we are with the work that John and his employees did. We bought our car in January and immediately had it ceramic coated. It was done by a different shop. The first time it rained, and we were on the freeway, I was not impressed. Then we were looking at the wheels, and nothing seemed like it really had been done. That's when we found Olympia Auto Recon. John took us through the process that he would do and went through the packages with us to explain the different costs and services. We chose the GTECHNIQ 9 year coating. The first time I washed it after the two week cure, I notice an immediate difference. The way the water repels off of the paint is incredible. Couple weeks ago we took it on a road trip. It rained both ways, and when we came home, the car still looked clean. I can't say enough about the service and how pleased we are, how the car came out. It glows in the dark! It's worth every penny. Thank you again John!

I recently visited this auto detail shop to get a ceramic coat applied to my brand new Crosstrek. John, the owner, is an awesome person who took the time to educate me on maintaining the coating. His diverse pricing options cater to various budgets. The results were outstanding; despite daily rain, the coating is holding up beautifully. This shop is now my go-to for all car needs. Thank you, John, for the exceptional service!

We are very happy with the work John did. Didn't know what to expect with the ceramic coating on our Mustang but we just picked it up this evening and were blown away with the quality of his work and attention to detail. Would definitely recommend him to anybody that wants a first class professional to work on their baby. Awesome job.

I recently took my black, GMC AT-4 HD truck to John to have ceramic coating. The truck looks amazing, actually better than when it was brand new. The truck looks like a black mirror. I could not be happier with the job John did and the service and care he puts into every job he does.

As a business owner myself, I am very cautious about whom I leave reviews for… as I would expect my customers to be. Oly Recon is hands down the best ‘detail’ shop I’ve ever used… although it’s much more than a detail. Completely reconditioned my old Land Rover… took a 20 year old paint job and made it darn near new. The ceramic coating is absolutely phenomenal. Today I took my wife’s Cadillac in for its quarterly detail and ceramic touch up. Looks better than the day we bought it. I won’t say it’s cheap!… but its absolutely fair!… And if you care about your rig, this is the spot. He’s taken care of all our rigs for 3+ years now. Worth every penny!

Have more questions?

Get the answers to your most common queries regarding our Paint Correction & Enhancement process and services to get a smooth start in your detailing journey.

Is paint correction worth the cost?

The cost of paint correction can vary depending on the level of correction required and the size of the vehicle. While it may be more expensive than a basic detailing job, the results can be well worth the cost, as it can greatly enhance the appearance and protection of the vehicle’s paint finish. Additionally, a well-done paint correction can increase the resale value of the vehicle.

How long does paint correction last?

The length of time that paint correction lasts depends on several factors, such as the quality of the products used, how the vehicle is maintained after the correction, and the driving conditions the vehicle is exposed to. In general, a properly done paint correction can last for several years.

Can paint correction damage the paint?

When done correctly by a professional detailer, paint correction should not damage the paint. However, if done improperly, it is possible to remove too much clear coat, leaving the paint vulnerable to damage.

How long does paint correction take?

The length of time it takes to complete a paint correction job depends on several factors, such as the size of the vehicle, the severity of the imperfections, and the level of correction required. In general, a basic paint correction job can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, while a more extensive correction can take several days.

Can paint correction be done by hand?

While it is possible to do paint correction by hand, it is much more time-consuming and less effective than using specialized tools and equipment. Professional detailers typically use a combination of machine polishers and abrasive compounds to achieve the best results.

What is the difference between paint correction and detailing?

Detailing is a more general term that refers to the cleaning, polishing, and protecting of a vehicle’s exterior and interior surfaces. Paint correction is a specific process within detailing that involves removing imperfections from the paint finish.

I took it to another detailer and it looks worse now. Can you fix it?

We get this all the time. We usually get the vehicle with a bunch of holograms in the paint and wax all in the emblems and honeycomb areas. This is clear signs of an inexperienced detailer with a rotary and a wool pad and with too much compound or polish, and not properly trim masking around vehicle prior to polishing.

Does Paint Correction Remove the Clear Coat from my vehicle?

No, paint correction should not remove the clear coat from your vehicle. Paint correction is a process of removing a very thin layer of clear coat, or paint, from the surface of your car to remove imperfections such as swirl marks, scratches, or oxidation. However, if done correctly and with the proper tools and techniques, it should not remove more than a small fraction of the clear coat.

It’s important to note that if the clear coat is already very thin or damaged, then paint correction may not be the best solution, as it could potentially remove too much of the clear coat and cause further damage. In such cases, it’s important to consult a professional detailer or automotive paint specialist for guidance on the best course of action.
